Missions

Laurel Presbyterian's Ministry Partners:

LPC recognizes the ministry needs of the world far exceed what any one person or individual congregation can do alone. We have established strong partnerships with other organizations in order to “feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and house those without shelter,” as well as advocate for a more just society.

Laurel Advocacy and Referral Services (LARS)

Over 35 years ago, clergy in Laurel MD began a non-profit to help support those in our community who were falling through the cracks. LPC supports LARS through board membership, volunteering, an emergency apartment, food donations, and financial contributions.

Today, that organization has grown to:

·     a multi-million dollar budget and several staff

·     help navigate assistance programs,

·     providing emergency food and shelter,

·     supported housing apartments LARS’ mission:  We empower individuals in need of food, housing, financial assistance, to achieve well-being, stability, and self-sufficiency.

Iglesia de Dios de Laurel (IdL)

For more than 10 years, LPC has shared our space with this Hispanic Church of God and have joined in a variety of ministry projects together. IdL worships in the sanctuary Sunday afternoons and Tuesday evenings, and uses the manse and the rental home on the property to house pastors.  LPC and IdL work together to maintain the facilities and property, and support one another in our ministry work.

Prince Georges’ Leadership Action Network (PLAN)

LPC is one of the founding congregations of this non-partisan interfaith and inter-racial advocacy network focusing currently on the lack of affordable housing in the Prince Georges’ County. LPC is located in the northernmost part of the county, and this mutual partnership with other faith-based communities keeps us connected and helps us inform policy makers of our neighborhoods’ most pressing needs.
